In Florida, getting a medical marijuana license is a very simple process, but it can still be confusing. That’s why we put together an easy-to-follow step-by-step tutorial on how to receive your medical marijuana card in Florida, which has been thoroughly updated to comply with Florida’s 2021 criteria.
Step 1: Call Our Physicians to Arrange Your New Patient Evaluation
The first step in determining if you are eligible for a marijuana card under Florida law is to have your medical condition reviewed by a licensed physician. Physicians have a lot of leeway in determining whether or not your symptoms, suffering, or health condition are legal. You need to bring with you to the consultation, such as:
- Proof of Florida residency and photo I.D.
- Medical records
This appointment cannot be made with just any doctor. You’ll have to register with the state’s marijuana program.
If you qualify:
If doctors conclude that you are eligible, they will provide you with a patient registry I.D. number. This I.D. number will be used to fill out an online application on the state’s website.
You can apply for a Florida medical card using this application. The doctors will also register you with Florida’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry at the same time.
All you have to do now is wait for the state to authorize and activate your application after you’ve completed your online application with the patient registration I.D. number.
This could take up to two weeks. When the listing is activated, the state will send you an email. You can buy marijuana in Florida once you receive this email!
Don’t hold your breath for the physical card in the mail, which could take another 2-3 months. You can either print the email or save it to your phone.
Bring your standard photo ID to the dispensary of your choice, and the staff will be able to search the state’s database for your active listing. During this visit, you will be able to purchase products from the dispensary without the need for an actual marijuana ID card!
